PANDION OFFICEHOME THE GRID - a place of contrasts

Moss meets glass and aluminium in the middle of Berlin's Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg neighbourhood on Prinzenstraße. Two-wheel-friendly and contemporary in terms of sustainability and resource conservation, PANDION The Grid picks up on the tradition of Berlin's commercial courtyards. It offers modern working on five floors with around 13,600 sqm of office space and 400 sqm of restaurant space.

The name THE GRID refers to the clear architectural structure, as the metal façade is reminiscent of stacked frames. Until 2018, the 4,400 sqm property in the historically grown commercial area belonged to the car rental company Robben & Wientjes. The new building was designed by the Berlin architectural firm Eike Becker and was completed in autumn 2021.

Interesting concept ideas for working in the future were realised. A vertical garden in the form of a moss wall in the passage to the inner courtyard serves as a natural fine dust filter. The greening of the roof area with flowering plants for bees and a roof terrace of more than 400 sqm as well as the unsealed and greened courtyard area offer pleasant quality of stay and generous open spaces. In addition, OFFICEHOME The Grid combines the topic of working tomorrow with the topic of health promotion - for example, in the form of an integrated indoor exercise path and a particularly bicycle-friendly concept of the single-storey underground car park with a low entry slope, 225 bicycle parking spaces and shower facilities. In addition, there are 15 charging stations for electric vehicles and 80 parking spaces. Room heights of around three metres in combination with floor-to-ceiling windows and external sun protection convey an urban loft character inside the building. The anchor tenant in PANDION THE GRID is the IT services company Adesso, which accounts for around half of the space to be let and more than 400 workplaces. For the signage of the building, meng produced diverse and attractive guidance system elements that underline the special character of the PANDION.
